On Friday afternoon, August 7, a Las Vegas man died in a fatal crash in Wyoming.
According to authorities, the accident happened shortly before 4 p.m. around 10 miles east of Lyman, Wyoming on Interstate 80 near mile post 52.
Billyjohn Pritchett, aged 39, was riding a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle and traveling west bound on I 80 when he lost control of the motorcycle. Having lost control, he was thrown off the Harley Davidson and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pritchett, who was from North Las Vegas, was wearing a helmet but it was a non D.O.T approved skateboard helmet which was not appropriate for a motorcyclist.
Authorities are still investigating but at this time they believe that excessive speed was a contributing factor to the accident.
This fatality brings the total number of highway fatalities in Wyoming to 90 so far this year, which compares to 94 at the same time in 2014.
