Accident in a Construction Zone Leads to Death of Las Vegas Man

On Saturday, October 3, a man from Las Vegas died following an accident in a construction zone on U.S. 93.

According to the Nevada Department of Transportation, 63 year old Michael Douglas Pulliam was driving southbound on U.S. 93 around 20 miles north of Wells in a 2015 Nissan Sentra. He entered a construction zone, and was behind a 2008 Toyota Prius which was stopped at a temporary red light which was alternating traffic. The signal was there as they were building a wildlife safety underpass so that deer and other wildlife could safely cross from one side to the other and lessen the number of vehicle collisions with wildlife.

The speed limit had been reduced to 45 mph but at around 7.15 p.m. at mile marker 90 Pulliam smashed his car into the Prius and died at the scene from the injuries he received.

Nevada Highway Patrol does not believe that alcohol was involved in the crash but that Pulliam was not paying attention.
