A Bicyclist Was Killed on Sunday

On Sunday morning a bicyclist was killed in the east valley.

According to police, the accident happened at around 8.30 in the morning in the 100 block of Lamb Boulevard, near Charleston Boulevard. William McCarley, aged 62 from Las Vegas, was riding on his Mongoose mountain bike, travelling on Lamb, when he suddenly entered another lane and was hit by a 2008 Dodge Challenger being driven by a 74 year old man from Ely, Nevada.

McCarley was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash happened in exactly the same location, on the other side of the street, from a similar incident the afternoon before when a man suffered minor injuries when he was outside the marked crosswalk near the intersection of Manor Green Lane and North Lamb Boulevard, and was struck by a vehicle at around 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Initially he was thought to be seriously injured but having been taken to University Medical Center he made a major improvement.

This was the 6th traffic related death in Metro’s jurisdiction so far this year.
