Metro Police have announced that a motorcyclist has died after colliding with a car in the southeast part of the valley, making it the 50th traffic- related fatality in their jurisdiction.
Officers responded to reports of a collision at Russell Road and Lamb Boulevard at 2:38 p.m. on August 11.
According to witnesses and confirmed by the evidence, a 2014 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Russell approaching the intersection with Lamb. At the same time a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox was turning left from westbound Russell to southbound Lamb. The motorcycle then hit the Chevrolet in the rear.
The motorcyclist, who was a 25-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the Chevrolet, Alfred Marques, 73, was transported to Sunrise Hospital. Police were unable to comment on his condition and are continuing their investigating as to the accident.
